Drop In Anchors

Drop-In Anchor

Setting Tool

The drop-in anchor is used in medium to heavy-duty applications in solid media such as concrete and stone. A flush, female anchor, the drop-in houses an internal plug which is held securely in place even when used in overhead applications. Using the setting tool, the plug is driven to exactly the right depth, causing the anchor to expand. Drop-ins are frequently used for over-head applications, including hanging pipe, duct work, machinery, etc.

1. Always wear safety goggles.
2. Follow the drill manufacturer's safety instructions.
3. Use only solid carbide-tipped bits meeting the ANSI B94-12 tip diameter.
4. Drill the hole perpendicular to the work surface. To assure full holding power, do not ream the hole or allow the drill to wobble.
5. Drill the hole as deep as full length of anchor, but not closer than two anchor diameters to the bottom (opposite surface of the concrete).

6. Clean the hole using compressed air and a wire brush. A clean hole is necessary for proper performance.
7. Drop anchor in hole and tap flush with surface (anchor can be set flush with base material or sub-set).
8. Using setting tool, set the drop-in with several sharp hammer blows until expansion plug bottoms out in hole.
9. Position the fixture.
10. Insert bolt and tighten.
